The Golden Section Finder

The Golden Ratio is something that constantly pops up in the photography world. To put it simply, the Golden Ratio is used to achieve "perfect" composition. It's based on the ratio of 1 to 1.618 which has been shown to create a sense of balance. Incredibly, the Golden Ratio is rumored to have been used in paintings like The Last Supper as well as in architecture like the Notre Dame.

While it may not seem like it, the Golden Ratio is a great guide for positioning main objects in your scene. Some believe the rule of thirds is only a simplified version of the Golden Ratio.

So what do you do if you want to start looking at the world through a Golden Ratio? Well, one company made a great wallet sized product known as the Golden Section that puts the Golden Ratio in the palm of your hand. It's an incredible way to start composing your shots before setting up your camera.
